Carla is the Director and Principal Forensic Psychologist of Ferrari Consulting Group and established the practice due to the growing demand for services for forensic clients, and to satisfy her interest in exploring the interface between law and psychology.
Carla holds full registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and endorsement as a Forensic Psychologist. She specialises in providing psycholegal assessments and reports for Court, having completed her Masters degree in Forensic Psychology in 2010. Carla is often required to give evidence in Court and at AAT as an expert witness and has experience working with clients of diverse backgrounds requiring psychological assessment for criminal charges, family law, Victims of Crime, and for other matters including personal injury claims, immigration, and institutional abuse.
​Carla has also completed professional development in the area of fitness to stand and mental impairment assessments, as well as undertaken training for use of numerous psychometric risk assessment tools including specialised violence (including family violence), stalking, and sex offender risk assessments.
Prior to this, Carla was employed in both the public and private sectors, working within acute psychiatry in the Emergency Department of two busy metropolitan hospitals in Queensland for seven years before commencing private practice. As a result of her varied experience, Carla has experience with a range of acute mental health issues including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, addictions (including substances, gambling, other), anger management, relationships, and stress.
Carla has developed specific expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and has undertaken accreditation in the USA for ADHD coaching. She has published research on personality factors associated with traffic offences, and on the psychological impact of divorce and custody proceedings on parents.
She has also completed professional development courses in Family Law Counselling, Trauma within the Criminal Justice System, and is board-approved as a supervisor to provide professional supervision to other psychologists and graduates.
Carla is a full-time member of the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPi), the Australian Psychological Society (APS), a Fellow of the APS Forensic College, a member of the American Psychology-Law Society, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (USA) and the Global Institute of Forensic Research.
